Maple trees, Elderberries, Grapes, Dandelions, May Pops, Clover … oh my!
Because we are a sustainable farm practicing regenerative ranching techniques, we try our best to take advantage of everything our land has to offer. On the occasion that we have enough to offer for sale, we will do it here.
Do you even know anyone who makes maple syrup here in the South? We didn’t and so we have done it ourselves. There is a Southern Sugar Maple tree that grows here, but also the Red Maple trees that grow in abundance make a VERY tasty late winter treat! Look for them here in January and February!
May Pops are a wild fruit that grows here in West Tennessee. It’s a relative of the Passion fruit that grows in the tropics. Making jelly from this unique fruit is fun for mom and the girls here on the farm!
We occasionally use local honey here to make fermented garlic - a powerful cold fighter for the winter season - or any time of year!
Elderberry syrup is a staple in our house, and we will sometimes offer shelf stable elderberry juice with instructions on how to mix with local honey and make your own fresh syrup for fighting the flu!
Grapes are in abundance here also - Muscadine, Riverbank, Frost … and they all make delicious jellies!
And did you know that Dandelions make AMAZING honey flavored jelly? Look for those in the spring!
