Springtime!

Winter is finally over!

I have always enjoyed the changing of the seasons … however I probably never paid as much attention to them before as we do now that we’re ranching.

When we were hay farming weather mattered a lot -

Too much rain and the grass grew a lot, but then you couldn’t get in the fields to cut and dry and bale it.

Rain at the wrong time and your beautiful hay was now devalued or ruined altogether.

And then, of course, too little rain … little or no hay at all …

Farmers and ranchers live and die by the weather and the changing of the seasons.

February is the shortest month on the calendar.

But in reality it’s the LONGEST.

By that point it feels as if winter will never end and it will never be warm again!

Breaking ice is old.

Feeding hay is old.

Frozen fingers and toes are old.

Thawing the milk machine out so it will work is old.

Grey skies are old.

It’s ALL old.

So when Spring comes, it’s time for CELEBRATION!!

Watching the fields and forests come alive never ever gets old!

New babies are never old!

This week I wanted to share some of our beautiful Spring with you!

Spring always gives me hope for the future!

My prayer for you is that you have hope, too!
